“I have worked inside hospitals, inside courtrooms, and alongside law enforcement. I have seen firsthand how systems can protect people — and how they sometimes fail them. That perspective drives me. When a vulnerable person is harmed, I want families to have an advocate who understands the medicine, the investigation, and the law, and who will fight for the truth with compassion and resolve.”

Elizabeth Gilbert

Elizabeth (Liz) Gilbert is a native Arizonan whose career reflects a rare blend of medical expertise, courtroom experience, and compassion for vulnerable adults. Before becoming an attorney, Liz spent 14 years as a Respiratory Therapist at Valley Lutheran Hospital, where she cared for patients at some of the most critical moments of their lives. That experience shaped her decision to pursue law and ultimately inspired her commitment to protecting seniors and families harmed by abuse, neglect, or medical negligence.

While working full-time as an RT, Liz earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and her law degree from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. After graduation, she served as a law-trained bailiff for Maricopa County Superior Court Judge I. Sylvan Brown, gaining firsthand insight into courtroom practice, judicial decision-making, and the value of early dispute resolution.

Liz then spent 12 years as a Deputy County Attorney with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, where she tried more than 75 jury trials, ranging from drug offenses to first-degree murder. Much of her prosecutorial work was dedicated to the gang unit, partnering with state and federal agencies on complex investigations. Her leadership in a major federal firearms and narcotics case led to the indictment and conviction of 41 white supremacist gang members, and she was awarded the ATF Honor Award for her work.

In 2007, Liz shifted her focus to representing victims of elder abuse and neglect, where she found a powerful intersection of her medical background and legal training. She later expanded her experience by defending healthcare facilities and government entities in employment, civil rights, and personal injury matters, giving her a unique understanding of how institutions operate and how failures in care occur.

Liz now brings all of that experience to Miller Kory Rowe, advocating for vulnerable adults and families harmed by nursing home abuse, medical malpractice, and wrongful death. Her background on both sides of the courtroom allows her to identify systemic failures, interpret complex medical records, and pursue justice with clarity and conviction.

Outside the office

Outside the office, Liz’s greatest joy is her family. She is a proud aunt who can often be found cheering loudly at volleyball tournaments or hockey games, supporting her nieces and nephews in everything they do. Liz also loves snow sports and traveling with her husband, making the most of Arizona’s proximity to winter mountains and weekend adventure spots.

Real Client Testimonials

Our dedication to achieving successful outcomes for our clients is reflected in the authentic stories they share in our testimonials.

Many of these families came to us after discovering neglect in a nursing home or care facility.

“Teri Rowe and the team at MKR are highly recommended. My family and I went to Teri under the worst of circumstances and she was always kind, comforting, and helpful. Our case was complicated, sad, confusing and frustrating. She managed everything wonderfully. Our family lawyer referred us to Teri because Teri has a reputation for being the best. She definitely lives up to her reputation.”

“My sisters and I couldn’t have made a better choice by choosing Miller Kory Rowe to represent us. From day one to the end, their empathy, their professionalism and their confidence in our case never wavered. We were given the faith and they kept it. Their approach was completely professional but their concern for our case was equally personal. They took into account every little detail. They valued for us, our family values and ensured justice was done. We now have complete closure that this lawsuit is behind us, we can move forward knowing that we got some measure of justice for the harm done to our mother. Thank you so much Liz, Gabe and Stephanie.”

— Sherrie Dudek

“From our initial consultation to our final settlement. Miller, Kory and Rowe was with us every step of the way. Gabe and team kept us abreast of any updates on the case in a timely fashion and were always, often within minutes of an email, to walk us through what was happening in our case or clarify any questions we may have.

MKR’s compassion and thoughtfulness was genuine and was able to ease our minds in what was a difficult time with the passing of our mom. Gabe’s experience with these cases was very evident in our interactions and we had the utmost confidence in his representation. I would highly recommend MKR if you are ever in need of an attorney.”
